Solar cooking is fun, and it can save on energy use.

We sell Sun Oven® (www.sunoven.com) solar ovens. These quality built ovens fold into a durable, lightweight, and portable unit that is easy to store, set up, and take on car camping, boating, or horse or llama pack trips. At 21 lbs, it’s too large and heavy for backpacking, however.

We use our Sun Oven® in spring, summer, and fall for baking, thawing frozen foods, and in place of an electric powered slow cooker. The built in thermometer, self leveling cooking tray, and height adjusting leg make it easy to use.

You can put in a dinner casserole in the morning, face the Sun Oven® toward solar noon, and leave for work. The sun will move around, cook your casserole, and the Sun Oven® will keep it warm until you get home for dinner.

We particularly enjoy cooking outside in the summer, when using our electric oven would add considerable heat to our house.
